Pull UP, Then Kick DOWN

It is important in breast stoke to separate out the pull and the kick to ensure the swimmer is not gliding (accelerating) with their arms or legs out. You want to maintain a streamline like position during the glide.

Pullout

Breast stroke pullouts need to be done at every underwater opportunity off of the all. It is important to remember the parts of the pullout; Glide, Pull, Glide, Kick and Reach for the Top!

The Catch

In breast stroke it is important to Keep the palms down and wrists like the end of basketball shot. There is only one small space for the catch in breast stroke and it important to maximize the amount of water you can pull during it!

Tempo

It is important to keep tempo in breast stroke to ensure that you are not losing too much speed on your glide. Once you can feel your body starting to slow down in any way during the glide, that should be your indicator to start the next stroke.
