Your swimmer will need to bring the following items: Purple Marlins BackpackMarlins Cap (if they choose to wear one), Goggles, Backup Goggles, Water bottle, Small Snack, 2 towels (one to sit on, one to use), Deck Shoes (flip flops, crocs, etc.), Something Marlins related to keep warm (Parka, Sweatshirt, Sweatpants), and of course their Marlins Swimsuit.

Officials: White Collared Shirt: Officials are usually required to wear a white collared shirt. It should be plain and free of any logos or designs. Navy Blue or Black Slacks/Skirt: They are expected to wear navy blue or black slacks or skirts. Again, these should be plain without any patterns or designs. Comfortable Shoes: Comfortable closed-toe shoes are recommended, but the specific type may not be specified. Official's Badge and Lanyard: Officials will typically wear their official's badge and lanyard, which identifies them as certified officials.

Timers: White Shirt or Polo: Timers are usually asked to wear a white shirt or polo. It should be clean and free of logos or designs. Your swimmers are responsible for knowing when their events are, and when to go up for them. When I am on deck at meets I will be assisting and making sure that each swimmer is ready and is heading over to the blocks with ample time before their events. Once your swimmer is behind the blocks I cannot be there to bring them up to it when their event is called. It is vital that your swimmer is aware of the current events / heats that are going on during the meet and knowing which event / heat / lane they are in for their own races. I always recommend writing down event / heat / lane numbers down on your swimmers arm so that they have a little reminder. Please remind your swimmer to not leave the team area as Coaches are not allowed into the swimmers locker room and thus cannot search for you swimmer if their event is coming up.

If your swimmer misses an event, I will usually go over and talk to the meet official and see if there are any open spots in the following heats where the swim can be made up. This is not a reliable method as when meets are over subscribed they simply will not allow missed swims to be made up, or if there are no open spots in the following heats, they will also not allow for the missed swim to be made up. Additionally, as a Coach, I can only do so much in order to get your swimmers up to the blocks. I usually do not have issues with swimmers missing their events as I remind them several times and keep tabs on where everyone is, but the responsibility ultimately comes down to your swimmer in order to be behind the blocks when it is time for their event.

I will always remind your swimmer to come to talk to me before and after their races. Before we will talk about how we want to plan and execute the upcoming race. After we will talk about Splits, Stroke Technique during the race, how they raced, and of course what we can do to improve for next time.
